Hi Nozomi and Yukari,
Your video was very informative, and now I'm tempted to try making some sushi of my own. I had no idea that vinegar gets put into the rice, but now I get why you would do that. :] I really like cucumbers, so my favorite kind of sushi are the cucumber rolls; I think they're called "kappa maki," but I'm not sure. What are your favorites, and do you guys make sushi often?

Riana

Hi Riana,
Thank you for your comment! You know Japanese sushi well. We love kappa maki too! We also roll natto! It is called "natto maki". Do you like natto? Have you ever tried it? Yukari's favorite sushi is tekka maki which roll raw tuna. And Nozomi's favorites are grilled salmon sushi and omlet sushi. These are very delicious!! We sometimes make sushi roll at home for a dinner. But when we want to eat sushi, we often go sushi restaurant.

Hey Nozomi and Yukari!
I'm glad to hear that you like kappa maki, too. :D As for natto, I've never tried it--I'm a little scared to. I've smelled it before, though. xD My older sister's favorite sushi is tekka maki as well! I've never tried grilled salmon sushi, but it sounds delicious. Do you guys eat at sushi restaurants because you think it's better or because it's more convenient when you want a variety? Also, when you make sushi, how many different kinds do you make at a time? (You've made me hungry now... xD)
Riana

Hi, Riana!
Thank you for your replying! Some Japanese people also dislike natto... Yukari love natto, but I can't eat it! I think it smells too bad. Oh, your sister likes sushi too!! We glad to hear that! Do you often eat sushi? And are there any sushi restaurant in your town? We eat at sushi restaurants because there are many kinds of sushi and we also eat other foods like miso soup and chawan-mushi which is Japanese food. We can't make many kinds of sushi, so we only make sushi roll or inarizushi which is made from deep-fried bean curd cooked with soy sauce and sugar. If we want to eat nigiri-zushi (which is sashimi put on the rice), we buy them at supermarkets or go to sushi restaurants! Nigiri-zusi is difficult to make!

Hi Nozomi and Yukari!

My family doesn't eat sushi that often, but there is a sushi restaurant called Ariake close to our house so if we feel like eating it, it's convenient to go. Chawan-mushi sounds interesting, but doesn't "mushi" mean bug? O.o Are there a lot of sushi restaurants close to where you are? Thanks so much for talking to me you guys! :D

Hi Nozomi and Yukari!
I too thought that your video was very informative! I have never learned how to make sushi, but I have always wanted to learn. I'm not sure if I would put vinegar in the rice, because I am not a fan of vinegar, but I do love tuna! The sushi in your video looks very very yummy! What other sushi's can you make?

Ferheen

Hi Ferheen,
Thank you for your comment! We are glad to teach you how to make sushi. Vinegar is important when you make sushi!! Japanese vinegar tastes very good! Please try it sometime! We love tuna too, so when we made sushi roll, we put many tuna!!!!!! We can make inarizushi. Do you know it? It puts rice into deep-fried bean curd which boiled with soy sauce and sugar. It is also make easily!

Hello Nozomi and Yukari!
I love sushi too! Your pronunciation of English is quite clear. I have tried making sushi before and it was very hard to do. Your video of the Te-maki looked tasty! I've never thought of putting tuna in sushi before. Next time I will try it and see how it tastes. What are your favorite things to put in sushi?I like putting eel or spam in mine. Do you often make sushi yourselves or eat it at a restaurant?

~Michelle.

Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your comments! We practiced to read the sentences many times... We are happy to hear that!! We think many Japanese people like to put tuna in sushi. Please try it! Our favorite foods to put in sushi are deep-fried chiken, fried shrimp and natto! And we love eel too. Why don't you try these foods? We recommend them!! We prefer to go a sushi restaurant when we eat them because there are many kinds of sushi!

Nozomi and Yukari!
Hi again! I'm glad your practice paid off then! ^-^ I haven't really tried many sushi that have sashimi on them. I'm afraid of eating the fish raw. Did you use canned tuna? I know that ootoro is really popular. In fact, there was a tuna-cutting event at my workplace, Mitsuwa Supermarket, and it was packed with customers. I would have bought ootoro to try, but I didn't know that it was so expensive! Ehh~ karaage can be used in sushi too? Wow! So you can put anything you like? I'm not too sure about nattou... its smell is a bit overbearing. Have you tried Korean styled sushi (kimbap)? It is a bit different than the Japanese kind.

~Michelle.

Hi, Michelle!
Thank you for your replying! We often eat nigiri-zushi (which is sashimi on the rice) than sushi roll. We love raw fish! Please try it more!! We used canned tuna. But we can use raw tuna too! Oh! There was an such event at your workplace! We surprised to hear that. We have never seen a tuna-cutting! Ootoro is also expensive in Japan so, we can't eat it often... We put anything on sushi! Please try anyting you like! We have never tried kimbap and we don't know about them! We want to try them!
We enjoyed talking with you! We are looking forward to see you! Happy Holidays!! See you again!

Hi again Nozomi and Yukari!

I have never tried Japanese vinegar. Only American... Is Japanese vinegar sweeter? I don't like bitter things! Maybe when I go to a store, I'll try to buy some. Ah, gomen - inarizushi wa shirimasen... It sounds very good though! What other sushi's can you make? What about shrimp sushi? I like shrimp!

Please comment back!
-Ferheen

Hi, Ferheen!
Thank you for your replying! We don't know American vinegar's taste, but we think Japanese vinegar is little sweeter than yours. We heard that western vinegar is made from grapes. But Japanese one is made from rice! Maybe, Japanese vinegar matches well sushi. When you come Japan, please compare with American vinegar! Your Japanese is very well! You don't know inarizushi... Please try it sometime! Oh, sorry, we can't make shrimp sushi. Because it is difficult to make... We can't make it, but we often put it on sushi roll!! We think you like sushi very much! What kind of Japanese food do you like? What is the strangest Japanese food have you ever tried?
